Elevators and My "Other" World

MSSIMH

This is a weird one: "Come Undone" by Duran Duran.

DREAM

Part One:
I was in a building that I could not get out of. It had elevators that had minds of their own. Several other random strangers were having the same problem. One guy was getting downright annoyed with the whole thing. I would get in an elevator and step out out onto an unfamiliar lobby. I would push the button to get back on and the inside of the elevator would change. This went on for quite some time with no closure.

Part Two:
At some point in the night I woke up and like most people, the dreams change and are completely different. Sometimes, when I have a bad dream, I can wake myself up. It is not easy but I have accomplished it. Another thing I do when I am lightly dozing and dreaming and would like the dream to end but don't want to wake up, I can open my eyes for a brief moment and still go back to sleep. I call this "changing channels".
This time was just a random middle of the night wake up. I have never slept 8 hours straight to my recollection. I have self-taught myself tricks over the years to combat insomnia. That said...

If I had started this blog years ago, I would have great details of this "other" world that I go to in my dreams. There are no rainbows or unicorns. It is just a normal city that I always recognize in my dreams but has no familiarity in waking life. This place consists of, among other things: a voluminous stone building with a basement (I have not seen the outside but the inside looks like an old castle); a warehouse/loft space that is used as an office for something artistic where maybe I work; a nice family house decorated in a stylish 70s California Contemporary where a cute girl lives who may or may not be a love interest; and finally, a row house which has many rooms and always has art projects going on inside. FYI, I have never lived or worked in any such places.
It is this last location that I revisited last night. Along with others, I have "lived" here as roommates. The roomies include at times at least three girls - one with short dark hair and tattoos - and two guys - one blond and one brunette. I went to the back door because the front was locked. Nobody was home so I just walked in and was looking around. Brunette male former roommate comes in and he knows me by name. I say I was in the neighborhood and just thought I'd drop by. He has a friend with him who doesn't really pay attention to me. Brunette male lays on the couch and ask me "so, what's up?" That is last I remember.
